Maar dat advies blijkt lang niet voor iedereen te kloppen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Uit nieuw internationaal onderzoek blijkt dat je <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metronieuws.nl\/lifestyle\/health-mind\/2025\/01\/merijn-slapen-zoals-oermens\/\">ideale hoeveelheid slaap<\/a> sterk afhangt van de cultuur waarin je leeft.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hoeveelheid slaap verschilt per cultuur\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Wetenschappers uit Canada <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/10.1073\/pnas.2419269122\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">analyseerden slaapgegevens<\/a> van bijna 5.000 mensen uit twintig verschillende landen. Wat bleek? De gemiddelde slaaptijd verschilt enorm per land. Japanners slapen gemiddeld net iets meer dan zes uur per nacht, terwijl Fransen bijna acht uur halen. Nederlanders zaten er met ongeveer 7,5 uur tussenin.<\/p>\n<p>Toch waren mensen in landen met kortere nachten niet ongezonder dan de langslapers. Sterker nog: wie slaapt volgens de norm binnen zijn eigen cultuur, scoort over het algemeen beter op gezondheid.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geen universeel perfecte slaaptijd<\/h2>\n<p>\u201eEr is geen universeel perfecte slaaptijd\u201d, zegt onderzoeker Steven Heine van de Universiteit van British Columbia. \u201eWat voor jou werkt, hangt samen met wat binnen jouw cultuur normaal is.\u201d Dus terwijl acht uur misschien ideaal is in Nederland, kan dat in Japan als veel worden gezien.<\/p>\n<p>De onderzoekers zagen dat mensen die dicht bij hun \u2018culturele slaaptijd\u2019 zaten, zich fysiek en mentaal beter voelden dan mensen die daar flink van afweken.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gezondheidsadviezen-moeten-persoonlijker-worden\">Gezondheidsadviezen moeten persoonlijker worden<\/h3>\n<p>Volgens hoofdauteur Christine Ou, verpleegkundige en onderzoeker, laat de studie zien dat we anders naar slaaptips moeten kijken. \u201eGezondheidsadviezen die rekening houden met culturele verschillen zijn waarschijnlijk effectiever.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kortom: er is geen magisch aantal uren voor iedereen.
